Great app Marines! Semper Fidelis.” – Five star rating by Paul Yoon, on June 21, 2011.

It’s a Leap Year, and in celebration of the extra calendar day, Bates Creative Group is hosting a Mobile and Tablet App Lunch Presentation on Wednesday, February 29. During the presentation, we will discuss the details of mobile and tablet publishing for organizations and associations.

In 2011, Bates Creative Group was exclusively selected to beta-test Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite, used to design and develop the Marines magazine iPad and Android tablet apps.

Earlier this year, InformationWeek named the Marines magazine tablet app as one of the 10 best government apps, judging each for their visual appeal and functionality.

As Bates Creative Group continues to grow in the digital space, we get a lot of questions about apps. Whether it’s about cost, scheduling, content, or design, we’ve got the experience to answer all your questions. We are excited to invite select clients and friends to join us for an interesting and informative conversation about this exciting new publishing medium.

Bates Creative Group President Debbie Bates-Schrott will be leading the discussion, and will be joined by Creative Director Jeff Caporizzo to talk about branding in the digital space, and Interactive Director Vince Tardy to discuss mobile publishing from a design and development standpoint.

We invite attendees to bring samples of their organization’s magazine to reference throughout our discussion and use as examples.

Event Details:
Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Lunch served at 11:30 a.m.
Informal presentation and conversation will be noon to 2:00 p.m.

We currently have two spots left! Reserve your spot today by emailing emily@batescreativegroup.com.

In an effort to be fully prepared, we ask that attendees submit any questions they may already have prior to the meeting on Wednesday. This will be a great help to us and will ensure we have answers and resources prepared upon your arrival. Please email questions to emily@batescreativegroup.com

InformationWeek, a print and online magazine and leading news source for information technology professionals, recently named the 10 best government apps, judging each for their visual appeal and functionality.

“One of the more visually compelling government iPad apps is the interactive Marines magazine, which publishes quarterly. Touch screen navigation lets users move from page to page with a flick of the wrist, and articles sometimes come with embedded video,” writes InformationWeek journalist J. Nicholas Hoover.

“The most recent issue of Marines magazine includes video of a Medal of Honor ceremony that accompanies an article about a marine who repeatedly returned to the line of fire to rescue fallen comrades, even after being wounded himself,” says Hoover.

Each year Adobe chooses one customer team to present at its annual sales conference. On December 13-15, 2011, Debra Bates-Schrott, President of Bates Creative Group, and client, Greg Reeder, Director of Marine Corps Production for the Defense Media Activity, U.S. Marine Corps, presented on the conference’s main stage in Las Vegas, NV.

Bates Creative Group has designed and developed the Marines magazine for the tablet market since 2010 using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, a solution for creating, distributing, monetizing and optimizing content and publications for tablet devices. Bates-Schrott and Reeder shared their perspectives on how Adobe’s solutions help solve current business concerns and allowed the entire Adobe and field support organizations to learn from their experience.

“The conference was a huge success. The opportunity to be an Adobe Digital Publishing Suite beta-tester for a year was fantastic, but the invitation to share our experience and success with Adobe’s agents and developers was a huge honor. Our Marines magazine iPad app has highlighted our studio’s ability to successfully take a publication from print to tablet and has been an innovative project that our designers love to work on,” says Debra Bates-Schrott, President of Bates Creative Group.

The Marines magazine iPad app was launched in October 2010 to rave reviews on iTunes, making it the first official U.S. military iPad magazine.

The tablet app was recently named one of the “10 Cool iPad Apps From Uncle Sam” on InformationWeek.com and has won various awards from the Association Media and Publishing and Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington.
